How CKP Researches and Checks Its Articles

A useful article should make its subject easier to understand and make its evidence easier to inspect. Here is the method behind the current knowledge-hub guides, and the standard for adding further material.

Start with one reader question

Each guide has a clear purpose: locate a place, understand a figure, find an official study source or interpret a planning proposal. The Urdu summary gives a quick introduction. The contents and headings let readers choose their depth. Related reading offers the next useful step.

Match the source to the claim

  • Use census tables for the population and unit actually recorded, including the year.
  • Use the responsible institution for its own programme or official notice. Check the session and campus.
  • Use planning documents to explain their study area and proposals; seek separate evidence for implementation.
  • Attribute historical accounts to their author and period. Compare conflicting accounts rather than turning one into an unquestioned fact.
  • Attribute a podcast guest’s experience to the speaker. A conversation is not automatically a district-wide survey.

Keep geography and time visible

The breadcrumb places a guide within Kurram District and its verified region. A source’s own boundary still matters: the town committee, surrounding settlements, planning area and tehsil are not interchangeable. The date reviewed records our check; it does not change an old source into new data.

Explain and add value in our own words

We summarise, compare, interpret and connect sources. We do not copy report paragraphs and label them a new article. Direct quotations, where necessary, need attribution and a clear reason to appear. Maps, photographs and charts also need an appropriate source and permission or licence; an attractive image is not evidence of where or when something happened.

Name the limits of a check

The current library combines selected close reading from the supplied research collection with checked online primary sources. It is not a completed review of every page in the collection. Historical documents, provider listings and planning reports have different limits, which are stated beside the material that uses them.

The education and official-links collections are checked starting points. They do not promise complete institutional coverage or continuously updated service availability. Sensitive or specialist questions need the relevant qualified professional or responsible authority.

Make corrections traceable

To suggest a correction, contact CKP with the article URL, the sentence or entry, a public source and its date. An alternative place spelling is helpful; a conflicting boundary or number needs the exact record. Corrections should preserve the distinction between the original source and CKP’s explanation.

Material corrections should be described in the article’s review note. A new programme notice, amended table or newly verified place can lead to an updated entry. Expansion follows the evidence and reader usefulness, rather than a target number of pages.

Where local knowledge fits

Documents cannot replace every local perspective. Future oral histories and place profiles should identify who is speaking, obtain appropriate permission and distinguish memory from independently established chronology. Conflicting recollections can be documented without assigning blame or inventing agreement.
